LEATHER & TANNING

The bags and wallets from The Monte are made from different types of buffalo or cow leather. We mainly work with three kinds of buffalo leather: the first is structured and has a beautiful shining surface, the second is soft and flexible and the third has a rustic vintage look. When it comes to cow leather we usually work with two different types: one that is very soft and flexible and another with pull-up effect that gives the surface patina. The most common tanning procedure for The Monte products is vegetable tanning; a tanning process that leaves the original characteristics of the leather unaltered and is gentle to the environment.
