HOW EVERYTHING STARTED
The year was 1968 and Ibrahim Saliba imported the Beirut bag. It was perfectly right in time, and a large quantity was sold to a department store in Stockholm.
The years passed by and during that time many more bag designs were developed and produced. In the mid-seventies, Ibrahim formed a company named Sajaco together with Mr Janic Bergekrans. Sajaco stands for Saliba/Janic Company. The success was a fact. Sajaco was born.
DEVELOPED AND IMPORTANT COOPERATIONS WHERE INTRODUCED
Years of hard work followed. The company developed and the trips to tanneries and factories were many. Important collaborations were initiated. Ibrahim understood that an in-depth knowledge of the leather was important for the final product to be good. Together with the manufacturers, new tanning methods and new types of leather were developed. The close cooperation with the producers has been maintained through the years.
BAGS THAT ARE RIGHT THROUGH DECADES
Timeless bags, and bags that are right in time, allowed the company to stand out on the market. Well-worked leather bags can last for a long time and often become more beautiful over the years. This model with quilted flap is as modern today as when it came. One bag can fit many different styles for decades – from classically sleek to tough rock. Once a classic, always a classic.
EXPANSION BY SUBSIDIARIES
A big step forward was taken when we started our Norwegian subsidiary Sajaco A/S in 1989. The company now has offices and warehouses in Halden for distribution of our products. Two years later, 1991, we completed that step and started our Finnish subsidiary Sajaco OY.
PURCHASE TO INCREASE THE COMPANY
In 1992 Sajaco changed its name to Sajaco-Brandahl with the acquisition of Brandahl. Two years later, we bought the company HK Handskar AB, a wholesaler company with a wide range of leather gloves, gloves and knitted items. We design and produce our own collections that we present twice a year.
In the nineties, the fairs became larger and more common. Sajaco was displaying products on the most important platforms where customers and wholesalers met. The year was 1999 and the offerings before the turn of the millennium were many and enticing.
AGENT FOR MULTIPLE BRANDS
Through the years we have expanded with several brands that we either own or are agents for. HK Handskkompaniet, The Monte, House of Sajaco, Paul Chriz, Le Salle, North Pioneer, Spikes & Sparrow, Troop London, Escape, Lycke, Puccini, Duffy, Totes and Raindrops can be found at us.
SAJACO NORDIC TODAY
We are now in a new and exciting phase, since we have formed Sajaco Nordic by a merge between with Sajaco-Brandahl AB and B&M Design AB in Sweden and Janic & Carlo AS in Norway. The company today has 45 years of experience and we see a future where we together can continue to provide the best products and service for at least 45 more years.
